I am disgusted and outraged at the decision not to compensate gay and lesbian
partners of victims of the terrorist attacks. There is no justifiable reason
for this except that America is once again turning her back on her gay and
lesbian citizens. The reason given for this atrocity is that state laws have
to be followed. But what about federal law regarding illegal aliens? Why is
it that federal law can be broken, but state law cannot? I believe that this
is just an excuse to discriminate against gays and lesbians. This decision
makes their deaths look less meaningful than the deaths of others. And this
is not the case.
Please change this decision so that ALL Americans get compensated in the same
way, for the same amounts. Don't turn your back on these forgotten heroes
and their families.
