Discrimination in Victims' Benefits

Dear Sirs:

I am saddened that benefits won't be awarded equally to gay American citizens whose partners died as a result of the September 11 attacks, and outraged by the fact that illegal aliens will receive the same benefits as legal American citizens.

Whose brilliant idea was that? It is very clear that the INS is ineffective in keeping these illegals out of the country, but to award these aliens and not punish the companies that hired them while knowing full well they were here illegally in this country is an outrage.

Maybe we should go backward in time and be treated like African Americans used to be treated. We could have gay only restrooms, gay only drinking fountains and have to sit in the back of the bus, giving up our seats when heterosexuals need to sit down. How about banning gays from attending heterosexual-only schools, forbidding us to look a heterosexual in the eye when we walk the streets or face jail time?

By not awarding same sex partners the identical benefits as married couples, you are putting us in the back of the bus as second and third class citizens. Is this the message you want to send to us, our country and the rest of the world? I am totally embarrassed by your bias and bigotry and totally ashamed of my government because of this policy. And you should be ashamed too. You call yourself the Department of Justice? It's more like the Department of Just Us!
