Compensation for Partners of Gay and Lesbian Victims of
September 11
I am appalled that the possibility exists of not compensating the partners
of gay and lesbian victims of the September 11, 2001 attack in a manner
equal to the compensation offered to spouses of heterosexual victims.
To not provide equal treatment and benefits creates two tiers of valuing
human life and is an affront to the notions of justice and freedom that our
county stands for. While the death of a loved one can never be fully
compensated for by financial support, equal treatment of all survivors
acknowledges that each human life lost in this barbaric attack is equally
honored and valued.
I respectfully urge that in the name of our freedom and democracy justice is
exercised with equal measure to the partners and spouses of the September 11
victims.
Sincerely yours,
