Victim Compensation Fund
Life is full of imperfections, and perhaps it's difficult to find an
equitable way to recompense the loved ones of those who died in the 11
September tragedy. But Congress appears to have certainly exacerbated the
matter greatly by slicing the pie in a manner which denies a widow and seven
children any portion of the Fund simply because he had life insurance.
As a retired Federal Government worker myself, I have insight as to how the
U.S. Government functions and how politically-oriented thinking can make
decisions which are coldly bureaucratic and supposedly "in the best interests
of all." Well, I don't think Congress was at all equitable in coming up with
the rules applied to who would get what in this case. Therefore, I
respectfully urge the DOJ to carefully consider the matter and act
accordingly.
Yours truly,
