Violent Offender Sentenced to 65 Months in Federal Prison

Anchorage, Alaska – United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today that on May 19, 2010, Terrance Marcel Davis, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 65 months in prison for his conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Chief United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Beistline imposed the sentence on Davis age
25.

According to information presented to the court by Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin White, during the early morning hours of July 3, 2009, Davis, a convicted felon, struck another man over the head with a firearm during a fight at Fantasies on Fifth.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Beistline noted the serious nature of the crime, as well as Davis’ lengthy and violent criminal history. Davis has prior convictions for felony assault, felony misconduct involving a controlled substance, failure to appear, and unlawful evasion. In addition to his criminal convictions, Davis has a history of fleeing from law enforcement and violating his terms of probation and bail release.

Ms. Loeffler commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Anchorage Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Davis. Ms. White is a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who is funded by the Municipality of Anchorage for the purpose of prosecuting gang-related and violent crime cases.
