Montgomery Man Sentenced to Over Five Years in Federal Prison on Drug Charges
Montgomery, Alabama - Gabriel Lamark Coleman, 38, of Montgomery, Alabama, was sentenced on July 13, 2011, by U. S. District Judge Myron H. Thompson to 63 month in federal prison, after being convicted on two counts of possessing controlled substances with the intent to distribute, U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., announced today. Coleman was also ordered to serve 4 years of supervised release after his period of incarceration and ordered to pay a special assessment fee of $200.00.
On August 20, 2010, Coleman pled guilty to knowingly and intentionally possessing with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base, more commonly referred to as crack cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance, on March 16, 2006. Also on that date, Coleman pled guilty to knowingly and intentionally possessing with the intent to distribute 5 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine hydrochloride, also a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
Coleman, who has been in custody since August, 2010, was ordered remanded to the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to complete service of his sentence.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Brent Woodall.
