Montgomery, Alabama - Antwoin Harbison, a.k.a. “Gump”, of Prattville, Alabama, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for being involved in a conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, announced George L. Beck, Jr., United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama. In December of 2011, Harbison was found guilty of conspiring to maintain a residence to use and distribute crack cocaine, conspiring to distribute crack cocaine, and possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Harbison received such a long sentence because of the amount of drugs involved, because he was the leader of the drug conspiracy, and because he was involved in the sexual assault of a female at the crack house after providing her with crack cocaine.

“Illegal drugs often go hand in hand with violent crimes,” stated U.S. Attorney Beck. “Drugs are often involved in robberies, burglaries, shootings, and murders. We hope this long sentence sends a message to all violent drug dealers that their actions will not be tolerated. My office will continue to seek lengthy sentences on all violent drug dealers in order to protect our community from the poison of illegal drugs as well as the crimes often associated with the use and distribution of illegal drugs.”

The investigation of this case was spearheaded by the officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Prattville Police Department with the assistance of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. Over the past three years, the Prattville Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit has partnered with the DEA and the United States attorney’s office to target multiple prominent drug dealers in the Prattville area. Their efforts have resulted in four convictions in federal court and a cumulative total of 44 years in federal prison for those convicted of these offenses. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorneys Brandon Essig, and Monica Stump.
