Montgomery, Alabama - George L. Beck, Jr., United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama; Jim Byard, Director of Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), Mayor Coulter, of Phenix City; Mayor Hall, of Auburn; Christopher J. Murphy, Director of Montgomery Public Safety; Lynn Childs, Alabama Criminal Justice information Center; Tommy Dawson, Auburn Chief of Police; Jay Jones, Lee County Sheriff; Tommy Mangham, Opelika Chief of Police; Lester Patrick, Tuskegee Chief of Police; and Michael Sparks, Director of Forensic Science, will hold a press conference to announce various grants totaling over $5,000,000 awarded by the Department of Justice to state and local agencies for crime prevention in this district. A press release will be provided at the conference. The press conference will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 131 Clayton Street, Montgomery, Alabama, and the media is invited.
