United States Attorney Kenyen Brown announced that Larry Allen Davis, 42, of Granite City, Illinois, was sentenced in federal court today for his participation in an interstate marijuana distribution operation. The marijuana was supplied by Jesus and Alma Silva, who have been previously sentenced for their participation in the scheme, from their sources in Houston, Texas. Davis was characterized as their largest distributor, and shipments of marijuana were delivered to him in both Texas and in Illinois. Davis entered a guilty plea to the charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana in September of 2011.

Judge Kristi Dubose imposed a sentence of five years imprisonment, to be followed by a supervised release term of four years. The judge also ordred that the defendant undergo drug abuse treatment and mental health treatment during his incarceration and his supervision. No fine was imposed, but the judge ordered that Davis pay the special manadtory assessment of $100.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Divison. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.
