Guilty Plea In BP Fraud Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 11, 2012

United States Attorney Kenyen R. Brown announced today that Zandra Patrice English, a Mobile, Alabama resident who was indicted by the March 2012 Federal Grand Jury, entered a guilty plea before Federal District Court Judge DuBose to mail fraud in connection with a false BP claim. English will be sentenced in July of 2012.

English admitted that she had submitted a false claim and received monies to which she was not entitled. English faces a maximum possible penalty of up to 20 years, although her Sentencing Guidelines are substantially lower than the maximum possible penalty. The case arose from an investigation by the United States Secret Service and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deborah Griffin.
