Stockton Drug Dealer Sentenced
MOBILE, Ala. - Wilson Edward Stamps, 62, of Stockton, Alabama, was sentenced in federal court today for his role as a drug distributor, selling methamphetamine from his residence and business at Boatyard Landing near Stockton during the spring and summer of 2012. Stamps entered a guilty plea to a charge of distribution of methamphetamine in August of 2012. He was sentenced today by Hon. Callie V. S. Granade. The judge ordered that Stamps serve 87 months imprisonment, to be followed by a supervised release term of three years. The judge also ordered that Stamps would pay a special assessment of $100. Stamps agreed to the forfeiture of several items of property, including approximately $44,000 in cash seized from a safe deposit box during the investigation. The forfeiture proceedings were pending in state court in Baldwin County.
The case was investigated by the Baldwin County Drug Task Force, the Bay Minette Police Department, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.
