Three Hot Springs Men Convicted Of Crimes In Connection with Pharmacy robberies

Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, announced today that Detric Conway, Richard Johnson and Corey Kidd all of Hot Springs, Arkansas, entered pleas of guilty to crimes in connection with robberies of Phil’s Eastside Pharmacy in Glenwood, Arkansas and Hometown Pharmacy in Hot Springs. Specifically, Detric Conway entered a plea of guilty to Interference with Commerce by Robbery, Armed Robbery Involving Controlled Substances and two counts of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence in connection with the robberies in both Glenwood and Hot Springs. Richard Johnson entered a plea of guilty to Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime involving the robbery in Hot Springs. Corey Kidd entered a plea of guilty to Armed Robbery Involving Controlled Substances and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence involving the robbery in Hot Springs. All pleas were entered before the Honorable Robert T. Dawson, United States District Judge on September 12, 2011.
All three defendants face a maximum term of imprisonment of life in prison with no parole.
United States Attorney Conner Eldridge stated, “This case involves serious, violent crimes in which these men committed armed robbery of local pharmacies in Hot Springs and Glenwood. The three defendants have now been convicted and held accountable for these terrible crimes. We will continue to aggressively prosecute violent crime in the Western District of Arkansas, and we will work day in and day out to make communities safe.”
According to the plea agreements, on June 20, 2010, Detric Conway and two other individuals robbed Phil’s Eastside Pharmacy in Glenwood, Arkansas at gunpoint during business hours. Hydrocodone, a controlled substance, was taken during the robbery. Conway brandished a firearm during the robbery. On July 13, 2010, Detric Conway, Richard Johnson, Corey Kidd and another individual robbed the Hometown Pharmacy in Hot Springs, Arkansas at gunpoint as the pharmacist was opening the store. The masked men held the pharmacist at gunpoint and forced her to unlock the store. Once inside, Conway, Johnson and Kidd robbed the store of hydrocodone, as well as other controlled substances. Firearms were brandished during the Hometown Pharmacy robbery. Conway and Johnson were apprehended shortly after the robbery while hiding in a nearby neighborhood.
This case was investigated by the Hot Springs Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and the Glenwood Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Harris and Assistant United States Attorney Candace Taylor.
