BRIDGEPORT MAN SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN
FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROLE IN DRUG TRAFFICKING RING
David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JOSE LABRADOR, also known as “Flaco,” 63, of Bridgeport, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing narcotics.
This matter stems from a six-month investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department’s Tactical Narcotics Team into a drug trafficking organization that was responsible for the large-scale distribution of heroin, cocaine and oxycodone in and around Bridgeport.
According to court documents and statements made in court, LABRADOR assisted the drug distribution operation of his co-defendant, David Pacheco. During the course of the investigation, Pacheco was intercepted over a court-authorized wiretap directing his drug customers to meet LABRADOR at the Rio Café in Bridgeport, or in the area of Went Field Park, to purchase narcotics. Law enforcement surveillance subsequently confirmed these transactions.
Fifteen individuals have been charged with various federal narcotics distribution offenses as a result of this investigation.
On February 28, 2011, LABRADOR pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Pacheco has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
This matter is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, and the Bridgeport Police Department’s Tactical Narcotics Team. The Task Force is composed of members of the Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk, Stratford and Westport Police Departments, and the Connecticut State Police.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Sarah P. Karwan and H. Gordon Hall.
