PHONE CALLS TO EMPLOYEES OF CONNECTICUT COMPANY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 31, 2012

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that BRENT Q. HANSEN, 49, of Seminole, Fla., pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Janet C. Hall in Bridgeport to one count of making harassing telephone calls.

According to court documents and statements made in court, from approximately March 2011 through June 2012, HANSEN telephoned employees at a company in Hartford and left approximately 270 harassing voicemail messages for them.  In his messages, HANSEN repeatedly states that the individuals are cursed, that God will damn their souls, and that he hopes God will kill them.  During this time period, HANSEN also repeatedly sent harassing emails to the employees.

Judge Hall has scheduled sentencing for October 18, 2012, at which time HANSEN faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years and a fine of up to $250,000.

HANSEN has been detained in federal custody since his arrest on July 5, 2012.

This matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Neeraj Patel.
