David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that ARTHUR PRESTON, 22, of Fairfield, pleaded guilty yesterday before United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on October 24, 2011, PRESTON and two other individuals stole six firearms and 32 rounds of hollow point ammunition from a residence in Fairfield. Prior to October 24, 2011, PRESTON had been convicted of multiple felony offenses, including robbery, assault and burglary.

It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.

PRESTON has been detained since his arrest on November 7, 2011. The stolen firearms and ammunition have been recovered.

Judge Bryant has scheduled sentencing for December 3, 2012, at which time PRESTON faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.

This case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Fairfield Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Tracy Dayton and Michael J. Gustafson.
