David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that a federal grand jury sitting in Hartford returned an indictment today charging JOVANNY ARSENIO ROSARIO, 45, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, with one count of illegal reentry of a removed alien.

The indictment alleges that ARSENIO ROSARIO, who had previously been deported from the United States after a conviction for committing an aggravated felony, was found in the U.S.  without having obtained the express consent of the Attorney General of the United States or his successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, to reapply for admission into the U.S.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on September 5, 2012, Connecticut State Troopers made a traffic stop in Tolland and found ARSENIO ROSARIO with two other individuals in a car that had 28 bundles of U.S. currency, totaling $369,346.  ARSENIO ROSARIO has been detained since that date.

If convicted, ARSENIO ROSARIO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

This case is being investigated by ICE Homeland Security Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul H. McConnell and Special Assistant United States Attorney Anjna R. Kapoor.
