GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA  B  Douglas Allen Stone, 48, of Gainesville, was arraigned yesterday afternoon on a six-count indictment charging that he subscribed to false income tax returns for the 2004 through 2009 tax years.  Stone, who had been the owner of a Gainesville bar and pool hall formerly known as “Silver Q,” is alleged to have filed tax returns that underreported his total income by more than $364,000. 

The indictment was announced by Pamela C. Marsh, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

If convicted, Stone faces a maximum sentence of three years’ in prison on each count of the indictment.

U.S. Attorney Marsh extended her grateful appreciation to the Internal Revenue Service, the agency responsible for conducting the government’s criminal investigation.

The government’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Herbert Lindsey.

An indictment is merely a charging document.  Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
