Drug Dealer Sentenced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Michael J.  Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announces the sentencing of Lige Chappell, III, age 28 of Bronwood, Terrell County, Georgia, which took place before the Honorable W. Louis Sands,  United States District Judge for the Middle District of Georgia on May 26, 201.  Mr.  Chappel1 was sentenced to serve 93 months in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, followed by 5 years supervised release and a mandatory assessment fee of $325.00.

            Following trial, Mr. Chappell was convicted of:

            1.         Possession with Intent to Distribute More than 5 Grams of Cocaine Base a/k/a Crack Cocaine in violation of Title 21, United States Code Sections, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B)(iii);
            2.         Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine in violation of  Title 21, United States Code Sections, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C);
            3.         Possession of Marijuana in violation of  Title 21, United States Code Sections, 844  and,
            4.         Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime in violation of  Title 18, United States Code Section 924(c)(1)(A).

            The case was investigated by Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Columbus Resident Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Sylvester Resident Office, and the Dawson Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Leah McEwen.
