The United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Michael J. Moore, announced today that George Kyle Weeks, age 56, of Norman Park, Georgia, pled guilty to 5 counts of an indictment filed on June 9, 2010 charging him with filing false tax returns. The plea was entered on July 27, 2011, before the Honorable W. Louis Sands, United States District Judge. In entering the plea Weeks admitted to filing false tax returns for the years 2003 through 2007 in which he falsely claimed he was due $375,564.59 in tax refunds, in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 7206(1).

Weeks’ sentencing is set for October 20, 2011; he faces a penalty on each count of up to 3 years imprisonment, a maximum fine of $100,000.00, or both, and a term of supervised release of up to 1 year.

The case was investigated by agents of the Internal Revenue Service.  Assistant United States Attorney Robert D. McCullers prosecuted the case for the government.
