Cocaine Organization Guilty Pleas
Michael J. Moore, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announces that a major cocaine organization operating in Macon, Georgia has been dismantled. The investigation, code named “Fowl Play”, was a multi-agency investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Police Department, and Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
The drug trafficking organization was headed by Andre Fowler, age 38, and Hugh Fowler, age 37, both of Macon, Georgia. During its existence the organization was responsible for obtaining at least three or four kilograms of cocaine every two weeks from a source in Atlanta, Georgia. Once purchased, the cocaine was transported from Atlanta to Macon by couriers employed by the Fowler organization. The cocaine was hidden in stash houses before being sold to area cocaine dealers.
Adrian Williams, age 41, Cheyunski Williams, age 35, and Darrell Andrews, age 33, all residents of Macon, Georgia, acted as distributors for the organization. Antonio Glover, age 37, also from Macon, Georgia, managed the finances for the organization.
Investigative efforts on January 26, 2011, led to the seizure of three kilograms of cocaine in Atlanta destined for Macon and fourteen kilograms in Augusta, Georgia. All of the drugs came from the same source in Atlanta that had been supplying the Fowler organization.
On August 9, 2011, Cheyunski Williams and Darrell Andrews entered guilty pleas in United States District Court to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine, in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Section 846, i/c/w 21 United States Code, Section 841(b)(1)( a)(ii). On August 12, 2011, Andre Fowler, Adrian Williams, Antonio Glover and Hugh Fowler entered guilty pleas of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Based on the guilty pleas, Antonio Glover faces a statutory penalty of a mandatory minimum of five years, up to a maximum of forty years in prison. The others face a statutory penalty of a mandatory minimum of ten years, up to a maximum of life in prison without parole. All are in custody awaiting sentencing which is scheduled for October 26, 2011.
The investigation was initiated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Macon office, Middle Georgia Drug Enforcement, and officers from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Police Department and Jones County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Charles Calhoun.
John S. Comer, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration Atlanta Field Division stated, “This criminal network posed a clear and present danger to the safety of the citizens in the Macon, Georgia and surrounding area. Their removal makes this area safer. These guilty pleas illustrate how success can be achieved through the cooperative efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement.”
Moore said, “This U.S. Attorney’s office is committed to working with all levels of law enforcement in order to target and eliminate large scale drug organizations operating in the district. The prosecution of these organizations is a priority for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
