Grant Awarded To Houston County Law Enforcement Agencies

            United States Attorney Michael J. Moore, Houston County Sheriff Cullen Talton and Warner Robins Police Chief Brett Evans announce that the two Houston County agencies have been awarded an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. 

            The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and units of local government to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own needs and conditions.  Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems for criminal Justice.  The amount of funds awarded is $34,986.00 and will be split equally between the two agencies.

            Moore stated, "On behalf of the Department of Justice, I am pleased to acknowledge these grants and the good work our police officers and deputies do to keep us safe.  When federal and local law enforcement agencies partner together, the citizens we serve can be confident that they are getting our best efforts as we combat criminal activity."
