GUILTY VERDICT FOR FIREARMS OFFENSES

Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announced today that Jeremiah Jenkins, a resident of Belle Glade, Florida, was found guilty of four felony counts related to theft, illegal possession and transportation of firearms after a four day jury trial.  The case was tried before the Honorable W. Louis Sands, United States District Judge, in Albany Georgia. 

Defendant Jordan was convicted of the following associated with the May 21, 2011, burglary and theft of firearms from City Motor and Marine in Donalsonville, Georgia:

Count One, Theft of Firearms from a Licensed Dealer, a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 924(m), which carries a penalty of up to ten (10) years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine;

Count Two, Possession of Stolen Firearms, a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 922(j), which carries a penalty of up to ten (10) years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine;

Count Three, Interstate Transportation of Stolen Firearms, a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 922(i), which carries a penalty of up to ten (10) years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine;

Count Four, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 924(m), which carries a penalty of up to ten (10) years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing will be scheduled by the Court within approximately two months.

The case was jointly investigated by Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Donalsonville Police Department.  These agencies received support from the Palm Beach County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office, the Riviera Beach Police Department and the West Palm Beach Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Leah McEwen for the Middle District of Georgia.
