U.S. Attorney Received Soroptimist Ruby Award

U.S. Attorney Alicia A.G. Limtiaco, Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands,received the 2012 Soroptimist Ruby Award for Women Helping Women from the Founder Region in recognition of her outstanding work to improve the lives of women and girls.  U.S. Attorney Limtiaco also received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congressman Jerry McNerney in recognition of receiving the Founder Region Ruby Award and commended her service and dedication to the community.

A Certificate of Recognition from the California Department of Education Superintendent Tom Tonlakson, was also presented to U.S. Attorney Limtiaco recognizing her efforts to “rid the deplorable practice of Human Trafficking that takes the freedom and jeopardizes the lives of thousands of women and girls forced into modern-day slavery.” 

The Soroptimist Ruby Award recognizes and honors the first federation president, Ruby Lee Minar.  A ruby is also a deep red gemstone associated with wisdom, importance, vitality, strength, vivacity, power and love:  all words embodying the strong and compassionate women who are award recipients.

U.S. Attorney Limtiaco was not able to receive the 2012 Soroptimist Ruby Award in person which was presented at the 2012 Founder Region Conference in LA Works, Irwindale, California.
