U.S. Attorney Web Site Provides New ADA Complaint Form
Contact: Peter Deegan
Iowans with complaints about equal access to public facilities have a new way to to make their complaints known.
A top priority of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa is to protect the rights of citizens with disabilities through enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). To help promote that objective, the office has a web site that includes a new form citizens may submit to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. With this form the public will be able to directly submit complaints of possible violations of the ADA that occur in the Northern District of Iowa.
The form is available at www.justice.gov/usao/ian by selecting Complaint Form from the left column. The information may be typed directly onto the form while online. After the form is completed, it may be sent by mail, fax, or e-mail. The form is also available by calling the U.S. Attorney’s Office at (319) 363-6333 or
TTY (319) 286-9258.
On May 1, 2010, representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office will provide instructions on how to file the complaint form at the Linn County Aging and Disability Community Resource Fair. The fair will be held at Washington High School, 2205 Forest Drive S.E., in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Representatives will also distribute additional ADA-related items in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the ADA.
