
Alta Woman Pleads Guilty To Meth And Pseudoephedrine Charges

A woman who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine pled guilty on April 27, 2010, in federal court in Sioux City.
Jamie Alissa Peterson, age 26, from Alta, Iowa, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and distribute pseudoephedrine and one count of manufacturing or distributing methamphetamine where an individual under the age of 18 was present or resided.
From February of 2006 through July of 2009, Peterson and others manufactured and distributed methamphetamine and distributed pseudoephedrine at a residence in Truesdale, Iowa, within 1000 feet of the Truesdale City Park.
On November 1, 2008, law enforcement officers searched Peterson’s residence in Alta and found a methamphetamine laboratory, pseudoephedrine, lithium batteries, anhydrous ammonia, and methamphetamine. A child under the age of 18 was present.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Peterson remains on pre-trial supervision with U.S. Probation pending sentencing. Peterson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an $8,000,000 fine, $200 in special assessments, and at least ten years up to life of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and was investigated by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Storm Lake Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
