Larry Huston, age 42, from Anamosa, Iowa, is being held without bond on a federal charge of being a felon in possession of firearms. The charge is contained in an Indictment filed on July 28, 2010, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids. Huston was ordered to be detained following a hearing on August 3, 2010.

The Indictment alleges that, on or about December 11, 2008, Huston possessed three firearms after he previously had been convicted of felony Burglary, Forgery, and Theft.

Huston’s next appearance for trial is set for September 27, 2010. If convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bob Teig as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a cooperative local, state, and federal program aimed at the enhanced prosecution of gun crimes. The case was investigated by the Anamosa Police Department.
