Delores Mosley, age 51, from Waterloo, Iowa, has been arrested on a federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The charge is contained in an Indictment filed on July 28, 2010, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids. Mosley appeared in federal court on August 6, 2010, and was released on bond.

The Indictment alleges that, on or about November 15, 2009, Mosley possessed a .32 caliber revolver and ammunition after she had been convicted of a felony – Second Degree Theft – on June 12, 1989.

Mosley’s trial is set for October 4, 2010. If convicted, she faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bob Teig as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a cooperative local, state, and federal program aimed at the enhanced prosecution of gun crimes. The case was investigated by the Waterloo Police Department.
