A sex offender who moved to Iowa from Nebraska and attempted to mislead authorities about his new address in Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced on December 1, 2010, to five years on probation with one year home detention and six weekends in jail.

Sheyenne Paul Bock, age 38, from Sioux City, received the sentence after a July 20, 2010, guilty plea to the federal charge of failing to register or update his sex offender registration. He previously had been convicted in state court in Woodbury County, Iowa, of two felony charges of Lascivious Acts with a Child.

At the guilty plea hearing, Bock admitted he was required to register as a sex offender because of his prior criminal convictions, he moved to Iowa from Nebraska, and he did not register his new address.

Bock was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Bock was sentenced to a five-year term of probation. Conditions of his probation include one year home detention with electronic monitoring and six weekends in jail during a one year period. A $100 special assessment was also imposed.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Janet Petersen and investigated by the United States Marshals Service, with assistance from state Sex Offender Registration authorities, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Sioux City Police Department, and the Dakota County, Nebraska, Sheriff’s Office.
