mason city husband and wife sentenced to federal prison for meth manufacturing conspiracy

A Mason City husband and wife were sentenced February 23, 2010, to federal prison for their roles in a Mason City area methamphetamine conspiracy.

Jesse Holder, age 71, of Mason City, Iowa, received a prison term of over five years and Joann Holder, age 56, of Mason City, Iowa, received a prison term of over four years after July 8, 2009, guilty pleas to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine.

Information provided by the United States at the sentencings and change of plea hearings revealed that, during the conspiracy between June 2007 through September 2008, Jesse and Joann Holder purchased pseudoephedrine pills and provided them to others who manufactured methamphetamine. The Holders also sold methamphetamine.

Jesse and Joann Holder were sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Jess Holder was sentenced to 63 months’ imprisonment, and Joann Holder was sentenced to 51 months’ imprisonment. Each must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after prison. There is no parole in the federal system. The Holders were each ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.

Joann Holder was released on the bond previously set and is to surrender to the United States Marshal on March 18, 2010. Jesse Holder was released on the bond previously set and is to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on a date yet to be set.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
