cerro gordo county man sentenced for meth distribution

A Cerro Gordo County man was sentenced January 22, 2010, to one year and a day in federal prison for his in distribution of crystal methamphetamine.

Bruce Kenison, age 50, of Clear Lake, Iowa, received his prison term after a June 19, 2009, guilty plea to distributing more than 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Information provided by the United States at the sentencing and change of plea hearings revealed that, on March 26, 2008, Kenison transferred or aided and abetted in the transfer of more than five grams of crystal methamphetamine to another individual.

Kenison was sentenced in United States District Court in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Kenison was sentenced to 12 months’ and 1 day imprisonment. Kenison must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after prison. There is no parole in the federal system. Kenison was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.

Kenison is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
