A man who conspired to distribute methamphetamine near a school pled guilty June 9, 2010, in federal court in Sioux City.
Danny Fiferlick, 44, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
At the plea hearing, Fiferlick admitted that, from about October 2008 through January 2010, he participated in the distribution of at least 150 grams of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area. Fiferlick also admitted to distributing methamphetamine from his residence located within 1000 feet of Duncombe School. On December 21, 2009, Fiferlick possessed approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine that he intended to distribute to others. Between October 2009 and January 2010, Fiferlick distributed over 92 grams of methamphetamine to an individual working with law enforcement.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Fiferlick remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. On the conspiracy conviction, Fiferlick faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an $8,000,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 10 years to life of supervised release following any imprisonment. On the possession with intent conviction, Fiferlick faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 80 years’ imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 8 years to life of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program of the United States Department of Justice through a cooperative effort of the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
