
Marion man pleads guilty to receiving child pornography

A man who received child pornography on his computer pled guilty today in federal court in Cedar Rapids.
Bruce Lee Stiles, 29, from Marion, Iowa, was convicted of one count of receiving child pornography.
In a plea agreement, Stiles admitted receiving child pornography between about November 2009 and February 26, 2010. Stiles stored child pornography on computer disks at his residence in Marion. The disks were seized by law enforcement officers on February 26, 2010.
Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Stiles remains in custody of the United States Marshal and will remain in custody pending sentencing. Stiles faces a minimum of 5 years’ imprisonment and up to 20 years’ imprisonment without the possibility of parole; a fine of up to $250,000; a mandatory special assessment of $100; and
a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to the remainder of his life.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter E. Deegan, Jr. and was investigated by the Marion Police Department.
