Sheyenne Paul Bock, age 37, from Sioux City, Iowa, has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender. The charge is contained in a Complaint unsealed on March 10, 2010, in United States District Court in Sioux City.

The Complaint alleges that, from the spring of 2009 to the present, Bock worked and resided in Sioux City but did not register as required with Iowa’s Sex Offender Registry authorities. Federal law requires convicted sex offenders to register in the state in which they reside, work, or attend school.

If convicted on the charge alleged in the Complaint, Bock faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and a term of supervised release following any imprisonment of at least 5 years and up to life.

Bock appeared on March 10, 2010, in federal court in Sioux City, and an order releasing him on bond was entered today.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Janet Petersen and was investigated by the United States Marshals Service, the Sioux City Police Department, the Dakota County, Nebraska, Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
