
wright county man sentenced to over 19 years for meth conspiracy

A Wright County man was sentenced May 12, 2010, to over 19 years in federal prison for his role in a Mason City area methamphetamine conspiracy.
Robert Polzin, age 56, of Dows, Iowa, received his prison term after a February 5, 2010, guilty plea to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.
Information provided by the United States at the sentencing and change of plea hearings revealed that, during the conspiracy between December 2005 and December 2009, Polzin participated in the distribution of more than 1500 grams of pure methamphetamine.
Polzin was previously convicted of a felony drug offense in May 2005 in Wright County, Iowa.
Polzin was sentenced in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Polzin was sentenced to 237 months’ imprisonment. Polzin must also serve a ten-year term of supervised release after prison. There is no parole in the federal system. Polzin was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.
Polzin is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Belmond Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
