
Honduran man pleads guilty to illegal re-Entry

A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Honduras pled guilty on October 18, 2010, in federal court in Sioux City.
Luis Francisco Gonzalez-Alcerro, age 25, from Honduras, was convicted of one count of illegal re-entry.
At the plea hearing, Gonzalez-Alcerro admitted he was an illegal alien from Honduras present in the United States without permission. He had been previously removed from the United States on July 23, 2009. On September 2, 2010, Gonzalez-Alcerro was arrested in Dickinson County, Iowa, for driving under the influence.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Gonzalez-Alcerro remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Gonzalez-Alcerro faces up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, a $100 special assessment, and up to 1 year of supervised release.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
