
Mexican man pleads guilty to illegal re-Entry

A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Mexico pled guilty on October 18, 2010, in federal court in Sioux City.
Raul Rojas-Camacho, age 35, from Mexico, was convicted of one count of illegal re-entry.
At the plea hearing, Rojas-Camacho admitted he was an illegal alien from Mexico present in the United States without permission. He had been previously removed from the United States on February 25, 1999. On August 23, 2010, Immigration and Customs Enforcement contacted the Woodbury County Jail in Sioux City after hearing a news report that Rojas-Camacho had been arrested for a stabbing in Sioux City.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Rojas-Camacho remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Rojas-Camacho faces up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, a $100 special assessment, and up to 1 year of supervised release.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
