cedar rapids man guilty of crack cocaine charge

A Cedar Rapids man who sold crack cocaine to an undercover police officer pled guilty on April 19, 2011, in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

Lawrence Glover, age 27, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was convicted of one charge of distribution of more than 5 grams of crack cocaine.

At the plea hearing, Glover admitted that he sold approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine for $1,600 to an undercover police officer on June 10, 2010.

Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Glover remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Glover faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and at least 4 years and not more than life on supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Tvedt and was investigated by the Cedar Rapids Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force which consists of members of the DEA; Linn County Sheriff's Office; Cedar Rapids Police Department; Marion Police Department; Iowa City Police Department; Clinton Police Department; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services; and Iowa National Guard.
