
carroll man to federal prison for meth conspiracy

A man who was involved with distributing methamphetamine for more than two years was sentenced today to more than 13 years in federal prison.
Beau Berge, 29, from Carroll, Iowa, received the prison term after a November 29, 2010, guilty plea to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.
At the guilty plea, Beau admitted he conspired to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine from 2008 through February 2010 primarily in the Kossuth and Emmet County, Iowa, areas.
Berge was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Berge was sentenced to 165 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Berge is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Estherville Police Department.
