
Attorney Pleads Guilty To His Second Federal Drug Charge

A Cedar Rapids attorney who possessed crack cocaine in November pled guilty today in federal court in Cedar Rapids.
Stanley A. Roush, 52, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was convicted of possession of crack cocaine after having previously been convicted of a drug possession charge.
In a plea agreement, Roush admitted that he purchased $200 worth of crack cocaine on November 11, 2011, at an apartment complex in northeast Cedar Rapids. Roush had previously been convicted in federal court of possession of marijuana.
Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Roush remains free on bond previously set pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 days’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 2 years’ imprisonment, a fine of at least $2,500 and up to $250,000, a $100 special assessment, and up to a year of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Justin Lightfoot and was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force consisting of the DEA; the Linn County Sheriff's Office; the Cedar Rapids Police Department; the Marion Police Department; the Iowa City Police Department; the Clinton Police Department; the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services; and the Iowa National Guard.
