fort dodge woman sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for meth conspiracy

A woman who conspired to distribute methamphetamine was sentenced February 25, 2011, to 10 years in federal prison.

Stacy Bass, 40, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, received the prison term after an August 31, 2010, guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Bass was also convicted of one count of distributing methamphetamine.

At the guilty plea, Bass admitted she conspired to distribute methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area from December 2009 through about April 2010. On four separate occasions, Bass assisted others in the distribution of over 80 grams of methamphetamine.

Bass was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Bass was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $200 was imposed. She must also serve a five-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Bass is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program of the United States Department of Justice through a cooperative effort of the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, North Central Iowa Drug Task Force, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Fort Dodge Police Department, Mason City Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa, that consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and Woodbury County Attorney’s Office.
