
Three illegal aliens plead guilty to illegal re-Entry

Three men who illegally re-entered the United States from Mexico and Guatemala pled guilty on January 28, 2011, in federal court in Sioux City.
Jaime Hernandez-Vega, age 36, from Mexico; Emilio Jiminez-Meza, age 31, from Mexico; and Edgar Lima-Florian, age 37, from Guatemala, were each convicted of one count of illegal re-entry.
At the plea hearings, the men admitted they were illegal aliens present in the United States without permission.
Hernandez-Vega had been previously removed from the United States on June 14, 2004. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in Buena Vista County, Iowa, jail on September 12, 2010, while he was incarcerated for conspiracy and identity theft.
Jiminez-Meza had been previously removed from the United States on January 21, 2009. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in the Woodbury County, Iowa, jail on November 12, 2010, while he was incarcerated for domestic assault and public intoxication.
Lima-Florian had been previously removed from the United States on October 18, 2002. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in the Woodbury County, Iowa, jail on December 14, 2010, while he was incarcerated for no drivers license.
Sentencings before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after presentence reports are prepared. The three men remain in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. They face up to 2 years’ imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, a $100 special assessment, and up to 1 year of supervised release.
The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and were investigated by Homeland Security Investigations.
