The Indictment alleges that, from about November 2010 through January 22, 2011, Outlaw possessed a firearm after previously being convicted of three felony offenses including burglary in the 2nd degree, willful injury, and going armed with intent.
If convicted on the charge, Outlaw faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and up to 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
Outlaw appeared today in federal court in Sioux City and was held without bond pending a detention hearing, to be scheduled. Outlaw’s case is set for trial on September 6, 2011.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The case was referred to the United States Attorney’s Office after an investigation by the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
