CEDAR RAPIDS MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 11 YEARS FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

A man who possessed computer images of child pornography was sentenced today to more than 11 years in federal prison.
John Thomas Dolehide, age 26, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, received the prison term after an October 12, 2010, guilty plea to two counts of possession of child pornography.
In a plea agreement, Dolehide admitted that, on June 17 and July 9, 2009, he possessed computer images of child pornography at his home in Cedar Rapids. Among the images were more than 10 videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The images included prepubescent minors engaged in sadistic sexual conduct, including bondage.
Dolehide was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Dolehide was sentenced to 135 months’ imprisonment to be followed by an 8-year term of supervised release after the prison term. A special assessment of $200 was imposed. There is no parole in the federal system.
Dolehide was released on the bond previously set and is to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on a date yet to be set.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter Deegan and was investigated by the Marion Police Department and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
