A man who conspired to distribute methamphetamine was sentenced October 31, 2011, to 6 years in federal prison.

Gregg Wycoff, 51, from Estherville, Iowa, received the prison term after a February 17, 2011, guilty plea to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

At the guilty plea, Wycoff acknowledged conspiring to distribute at least 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine from about 2004 through September 2010, in and around the Estherville area. On September 28, 2010, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Wycoff’s residence and located methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, cash, and other items indicative of drug trafficking. Wycoff’s residence is located within 1000 feet of 10th Street Park in Estherville, Iowa.

Wycoff was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Wycoff was sentenced to 72 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $200 was imposed. He must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Wycoff is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Estherville Police Department, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Spencer Police Department.
