Man From Micronesia Sentenced To Federal Prison For Illegal Re-Entry As An Aggravated Felon

A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Micronesia was sentenced on November 2, 2011, to 34 months’ in federal prison.

Jay Nehior a/k/a Johnny Ehmos, age 29, from Micronesia, received the prison term after a July 29, 2011, guilty plea to one count of illegal re-entry as an aggravated felon.

At the guilty plea, Nehior admitted he was deported from the United States on November 26, 2001. Nehior came into Homeland Security Investigations’ (HSI) attention on March 25, 2011, when he was arrested by the Storm Lake, Iowa, Police Department for driving without a license, tampering with records, and interference with official acts.

In 2001, Nehior was convicted in the State of Hawaii of sexual assault in the third degree.

Nehior was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Donald E. O’Brien. Nehior was sentenced to 34 months’ imprisonment. He must also serve a 2 year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Nehior is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and investigated by HSI and the Enforcement and Removal Office of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau.
