A man who sexually exploited a child pled guilty today in federal court in Sioux City.

Dana Gleaves, age 38, of Sioux City, Iowa, was convicted of one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

At the plea hearing, Gleaves admitted that, between June 2010 and June 2011, he used, persuaded, induced, or enticed a minor under the age of 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such conduct.

Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Gleaves remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. Gleaves faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and supervised release for 5 years to life following his imprisonment.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Sioux City Police Department.
