Two men who illegally re-entered the United States after being deported were sentenced on May 30, 2012.

Francisco Perez-Barragan, age 35, from Mexico, and Juan Alvarado-Aguilar, age 38, from Mexico, received the sentences after April 23, 2012, guilty pleas to one count of illegal re-entry.

At his guilty plea, Perez-Barragan admitted he had re-entered the United States from Mexico illegally after being deported on January 7, 2005.

At his guilty plea, Alvarado-Aguilar admitted he had re-entered the United States from Mexico illegally after being deported on December 31, 2008.

The men were sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Perez-Barragan was sentenced to 75 days’ imprisonment and Alvarado-Aguilar was sentenced to time served. There is no parole in the federal system.

Perez-Barragan is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and investigated by HSI and the Enforcement and Removal Office of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau.
