A man who possessed child pornography pled guilty today in federal court in Sioux City.
Darin Meyer, age 36, from LuVerne, Iowa, was convicted of one count of possessing child pornography.
At the plea hearing, Meyer admitted that, between February 2006 and June 2008, he knowingly possessed child pornography on a computer.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Meyer was taken into custody by the United States Marshal after the guilty plea and will remain in custody pending sentencing. In a plea agreement, Meyer agreed to be sentenced to at least 60 months’ imprisonment and not more than 78 months’ imprisonment. Meyer faces a maximum fine of $250,000, a $100 special assessment, and supervised release for 5 years to life following his imprisonment.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
