A Manly, Iowa, man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a Mason City area methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

James Patrick Overbeck, age 42 from Manly, received his prison term after a January 18, 2012, guilty plea. Overbeck pled to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Information provided by the United States at the sentencing and change of plea hearing showed Overbeck was responsible for the distribution of approximately 4 pounds of methamphetamine. The conspiracy lasted from January 1, 2010 through May 25, 2011.

Overbeck was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Overbeck was sentenced to 200 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. Overbeck must also serve an 8-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
