
Arkansas Man To Federal Prison For Iowa Crack Conspiracy

An Arkansas man who conspired to distribute crack cocaine was sentenced November 29, 2012, to more than 10 years in federal prison.
Jamaron Bingham, 33, from Osceola, Arkansas, was convicted of conspiring to distribute crack cocaine on August 13, 2012. Bingham was previously convicted of delivery of a controlled substance, cocaine, in the Circuit Court of Mississippi, Arkansas, Osceola District Criminal Division in 2006.
At the guilty plea, Bingham admitted his involvement in a conspiracy that distributed more than 280 grams of crack cocaine in the Sioux City, Iowa, area from November 2010 and through August 2011. During the course of the conspiracy Bingham distributed crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a public school or playground, namely, Dale Street Park, Sioux City, Iowa. During the course of the conspiracy Bingham would travel to Arkansas approximately every other week and then travel back to Sioux City, Iowa, with approximately 2-4 ounces of crack cocaine for re-distribution.
Bingham was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Bingham was sentenced to 130 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve an eight-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Bingham is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa, that consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and Woodbury County Attorney’s Office.
